Student Opportunities

IEP Leadership Team

IEP students can volunteer to be a member of the IEP Leadership Team.  This group meets bi-monthly.  Together, students on the Leadership Team plan special events for IEP students.  Some examples include: a party for conversation partners, cultural celebrations for various student groups, community service trips, and more.  In addition, student leaders lead groups during field trips and community days.  To be a student leader, email Britt!

IEP Women’s Club

The IEP at TCU hosts a women’s club for female students to gather, to support, and to encourage each other during their time in the IEP.  The club meets to share meals and conversations.  The club also arranges service and social opportunities for students.

In addition, the club has participated in a research project with the TCU Women’s Studies Department.  The project, part of the “Love your Body Day” celebration, allowed IEP women to share their own ideas of beauty and compare those to ideas of beauty in the US.

IEP Community Days

Several Fridays during each semester, the IEP hosts community days.  These special days allow students to explore new parts of campus and connect with various TCU departments.  Student leaders frequently lead conversation groups, and students have a chance to practice English in a more social environment.  Guest speakers have included: TCU Bottom Line, TCU Rec Center, TCU Center for Academic Services, TCU Center for Career and Professional Development, and more!  Community days also frequently introduce students to American holidays.

IEP Field Trips

Field trips (one per session) allow students to practice English in an informal session while exploring the DFW area.  Past field trips include: the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, tour of AT&T Stadium, Fort Worth Zoo, Fort Worth Nature Center, Dallas World Aquarium, and more!
